Roald Dahl is a most interesting character himself, check out some facts on him below.

  • The BFG was his favourite.
  • He invented his own words, creating over 500 in his stories.
  • He hand wrote his books in a shed in his garden, he never learned to type
  • He based many of his characters on people in real life. The grandmother in The Witches is said to be based on his mother, and Sophie in The BFG was named after his granddaughter.
