N2 Monaghan Emyvale Realignment – Phase 3, From Gortmoney to Emyvale

Pursuant to the Local Government Planning and Development Regulations 2001 – 2011, Monaghan County Council hereby gives notice of its intention to carry out road improvement works on the N2 National Primary road from the Townland of Gortmoney to the Townland of Scarnageeragh through the Townlands of Corracrin, Gortmoney, Cornacreeve, Creevelea, Carrigans, Derryhallagh and Scarnageeragh in County Monaghan.

The proposed development will involve the realignment of approximately 2.5km of the existing N2 between Gortmoney and Emyvale. Works will include 2.5km of new single carriageway consisting of easement, alignment, improvement and overlay of the
N2 National Primary Road, road drainage, watercourse crossings and all ancillary works. The proposed typical road cross section is a single carriageway 8.3m wide road comprising of 0.5m wide hardstrips, 2 no. 3.65m wide lanes and 3m grass verge and 2m cycleway and 1.8m footway. A derelict shed is to be demolished at the townland of Carrigans, as part of the proposed works.

Plans and particulars of the proposed development are available for inspection or purchase, at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making
copies, during normal office hours (9.15am – 1.00pm and 2.00pm – 5.15pm), at the Offices of Monaghan County Council, Mtek II Building, Knockaconny, Armagh Road, Monaghan until Friday 11th of May.

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development will be situated, may be made in writing to Planning Section, Monaghan County Council, County Offices, Glen Road, Monaghan and clearly marked Part 8 – N2 Gortmoney to Emyvale, up to and including Friday 25th of May.
