The Town and Village Renewal Scheme is designed to support the revitalisation of rural Ireland by focusing on stimulating town centre economic and social regeneration. This will be achieved through projects which support sustainable employment creation, town centre resilience and regeneration, enhancing our streetscapes, and bringing vacant and derelict buildings and lands back into use as community multi-purpose spaces through refurbishment and renovation.
The focus of this Building Frontages Enhancement Scheme (BFES) is to support the upgrade and enhancement of shopfronts and street facades along Main Street, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan using the following:
- Green Enhancement of Entrances/Terraces with planting
- Painting and redecoration of Building Façade as per the provided colour palette; de-cluttering and repair of Building Façade
- Other Façade improvement works including:
- Illumination and lighting of architectural features
- Replacement of signage with traditional wooden fascia with wooden or hand-painted lettering OR contemporary design
The maximum grant available to applicants is 80% of eligible costs with a maximum grant payment of €8,000 per building. Applicants must contribute 20% of eligible costs.
The scheme is open to property owners or tenants of commercial, residential or unoccupied buildings that fall within the designated area of Main Street, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. Tenants must submit the owner’s written consent with the application.

Works must be completed by Friday, the 27th of November 2026.
