How to make a complaint about Water Pollution

Water pollution complaints should be reported to the Water Quality Team within the Environment section of Monaghan Co Council by:

In writing to: Environmental Services,

Monaghan Co Council,

Civic Offices,

Riverside Road,

Carrickmacross,

Co. Monaghan.

Complaints are dealt with as soon as possible and if serious the same day as they are received.

A written complaint should include:

  • Who was involved?
  • What happened and when?
  • What are you concerned about?
  • Have you done anything else to resolve this matter?
  • Include detailed directions

Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) has a confidential hotline number to enable members of the general public to report incidents of water pollution and fish kills – 1890 34 74 2

All complaints will be investigated as soon as possible after receiving them and take appropriate action.

Complaints relating to air, odour and noise pollution and should be reported to the Environmental Health Officers at 047 30500.
